Here we go Again!

by admin in Mexico

Yep, another blow on it’s way here.  This time it’s forecasted to be 30-35 knots from the North, starting late tonight & peaking Sunday night.  Then we are supposed to have 20+ knots on Monday with the wind calming on Tuesday.

We’re still on our mooring ball, we know with a North wind that we will get the seas, but feel safe on this ball.  Today the anchorage has about 10 new boats in the fleet, I think that the last blow kind of caught everyone’s attention & they are taking this one a little more serious.

We’re ready, as always we learn from our mistakes & those around us.  Today just in case, we unfurled our jib sail & re-furled it much tighter this time.  During the last blow another boat had it’s sail come unfurled in the wind & it tore apart.  We have also taken the motor off our poor “Old Blue” & shortened her painter.  Everything on the deck is tied down well.

So, enough of that talk.  We are still trying to source our steering cable, Toast on Don Quixote is trying a few sources in La Paz for us, thank you Toast, we know you’re busy.  If that isn’t successful, then we will look to sources in the USA.

Today we went into shore, to take showers, teach school, gossip, dump garbage, etc.  I brought Johanna back to the boat around 2PM as she wanted to tinker around on the boat.  Around 5PM the Kids & I came back to the boat, only to be greeted by amazing smells.  The Kids quickly came alive, asking what was cooking.  Johanna came on deck with a big smile, “STEW” she said.

So, while we were on shore, Johanna made a stew (for tomorrow) & had started on tonight’s dinner – Pork Chops, Homemade Cheese & Macaroni & Homemade Coleslaw.  I think the Kids have convinced her that they HAVE to eat her stew tonight!

In other exciting news – While onshore, we heard a radio call that 2 whales were just outside the anchorage.  Skyler & I ran to our dinghy & headed out there!  What an amazing sight to see those huge creatures, we sat in silence & just watched, as we headed back into shore, I turned around & yelled “Thank You”!

Goodnight from one lucky crew on Ocean Blue II
